The Summer of Cusack rolls on with the 2010 comedy, Hot Tub Time Machine. Hot Tub Time Machine stars Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Crispin Glover, Lizzy Caplan, Chevy Chase, and (of course) John Cusack!
Three friends (and one nephew) get sucked back in time through a portal in a hot tub. They are dropped back in the mid 1980s and must decide whether or not they will relive the weekend as it originally happened. The other option? Use their knowledge of the future to change their pasts.
In this week’s episode, Shane and Bryan discuss Hot Tub Time Machineand spend a more than adequate amount of time discussing the virtual life simulator, Second Life.

The first time I watched this movie I was watching it with my mom and daughters (even though they were probably a little too young for some of the content, at the time.) The scene where Lou barfs on the squirrel and then says, “Where’d the squirrel go?” Had us cracking up so hard we were all crying, to the point that we rewound it to see it again. So I have to agree that it’s one of the best comedies of the last decade.

Yeah. I have a hard time with coming up with 10 comedies that are funnier from the last ten years for sure. Here are some that are on the list:
1. The Hangover (2009)
2. Bridesmaids (2011)
3. Horrible Bosses (2011)
4. Ted (2012)
5. This is the End (2013)
6. Trainwreck (2015)
7. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)
8. Booksmart (2019)
This list is all live-action comedy–nothing animated and no genre blends.
There were a handful that are on the bubble, but I think Hot Tub Time Machine would be at home in this list.
